Effects of Empowerment on Mental Health of Adolescents Experienced High Risk Stress

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to grasp the mental health level in adolescents experienced with high risk stress and to identify the impact of empowerment on the mental health. And it¡¯s also meant to make a multiple regression analysis of a structural equation model by selecting as control variables their stress and psychosocial factor that were thought to affect mental health. selected from among For this, the following are the findings centering on 478 out of 1,411 adolescents. First, the adolescents with high risk of stress were indicated to be larger by from about 6 times to 10 times compared to the adolescents with low risk of stress regarding the distribution of adolescents with more than T-score 70, which indicates clinical level in the dimension of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, hostility, and interpersonal sensitivity. Adolescents, who show the clinical symptoms in more than 1 dimension at least out of 4 dimensions in mental health, were indicated to be 19.2%. Second, in terms of stress, better studies, friends, teachers and school, home environment, and surroundings stress had the more vulnerable mental health. And in psychosocial factors, better self-esteem enhanced more mental health. Third, the personal empowerment and interpersonal-relation empowerment were indicated to contribute to enhancing mental health even in a situation that controlled the sociodemographic characteristics, stress and psychosocial factors.
